Brown Goes Black

Over the weekend my brother gave me the idea to paint the brown cabinet in my studio (teaching room) since everything else is black, taupe, or gold. So...Monday I headed out to Home Depot to buy some black spray paint and a drop cloth. I painted while the boys slept and had it almost finished until both cans were empty. DH picked up another can on his way home and I finished up LATE on Monday night. I had a drip on the front that I had to sand down and try again (twice even!).

I moved it back into the studio on Tuesday afternoon but left it emtpy until just a few minutes ago. I'm very happy with how it turned out. I've always been intrigued by all the creative and cost-effective changes on home makeover shows but I've always been scared to try myself.

Do you have a piece of furniture to update in your house? It's cheap and easy!

Updated Space

Here are a few pictures from my new IKEA purchases that DH just put together for me. I {heart} them! It makes my space so much more cozy and efficient!

The first picture is the EXPEDIT bookshelf in black-brown. We're using it as a room divider for our guest bedroom/office. On the other side is a double bed, night stand, and chest of drawers.

Next is the LACK shelf with hidden hardware. It's about 74" and in the same black-brown color.

I do most of my scrapbooking, card making, and paper crafts on this desk. Soon I hope to show you pictures of the rest of the room...after it gets organized. :)

Expedit Bookshelf

I made a quick trip to IKEA this afternoon (finally!!) to pick up an EXPEDIT bookshelf for our guest bedroom/scrapbook room. Clark decided to help DH put it together.

I tried to get some stuff organized tonight but I will take pictures tomorrow after DH hangs a LACK shelf above my table. It feels SO good to start finding a place for everything. :)
